讲座摘要：

Populist leaders around the world often fight against corruption in order to win public support. But fighting against corruption can produce unintended consequences: by exposing corrupt officials, anti-corruption campaigns can alter citizens’ prior belief about public officials and lead to disenchantment about political institutions. Taking advantage of two surveys that were conducted before and during the campaign, and employing a difference-in-differences strategy, this paper shows that corruption investigations decrease respondents’ support for political institutions.

Bruce Dickson, 美国乔治华盛顿大学政治学系教授、系主任。主要研究领域为中国政治、制度转型以及国家与社会关系。

沈明明，维多利亚网站平台教授、中国国情研究中心主任。研究方向包括环境政治和环境政策实施的比较研究、抽样调查研究方法等。

“赵宝煦教授学术基金”是北京大学为纪念赵宝煦教授90华诞暨从教65周年，于2012年11月成立的学术基金，从属北京大学教育基金会，接受北京大学基金会按照国家有关法律法规管理。本基金的宗旨是集聚社会资源，资助中国国家治理体制和治理能力现代化所需的政治学人才培养和学术研究，促进中国政治学研究的发展。
